David Eason initially faced a misdemeanor child abuse charge connected to the reported incident. Several months later, prosecutors added felony assault by strangulation. North Carolina law requires a victim to suffer physical injury for that charge, which is classified as a Class H felony and carries a maximum sentence of 39 months in prison. David has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

Teen Mom: David Eason’s Trial Moves Toward Court

Teen Mom star David Eason is scheduled to stand trial next week on charges of assault by strangulation and child abuse. People connected to the case recently gave depositions under oath, although the testimony occurred outside court and without a judge present. A Columbus County Sheriff’s Office deputy has also been subpoenaed to appear and testify on Monday.

The September 2023 court summons alleges David Eason willingly inflicted physical injury on Jace, who was under 16. The document cites marks on Jace’s right arm and both sides of his neck. A protective order remains active and prohibits David from contacting or approaching Jace.
