Duggar News: Joseph and Kendra Duggar withdrew the not guilty pleas they entered in April, avoiding their scheduled Washington County District Court appearance on Monday, Aug. 10, according to the noted source. Instead, Joseph and Kendra submitted a plea by order, allowing guilty or no contest pleas to the eight charges. The judge must now sign an order accepting the submission and determine penalties.
If convicted on all eight counts, Joseph and Kendra Duggar could each face up to eight years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines. Court officials told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the plea-by-order filing allows the cases to be diverted for 12 months. The cases will remain open during that period, and the judge will determine the outcome and any penalties.
Following the arrests, Joseph and Kendra Duggar’s children were initially removed, and the couple could not contact them. Kendra Duggar later regained supervised contact after her attorney, Travis Story, filed a motion that led to the restriction being lifted.
